Diagenode and Genialis announce sample-to-analysis RNA-seq workflow for accurate differential expression analysis from low inputs
January 28, 2018

Denville, NJ – Liège, Belgium – Houston, TX- January 30, 2018 -- Diagenode and Genialis today launched a streamlined RNA-seq data analysis workflow to assess gene expression in low input or degraded RNA samples. The integrated sample-to-analysis workflow combines Diagenode’s “Capture and Amplification by Tailing and Switching” (CATS) RNA-seq library preparation products with a validated, automated bioinformatics pipeline developed for Genialis’ cloud-based, multi-omics data interpretation platform.

Low input RNA-seq facilitates gene expression studies with rare cell types or limited cell numbers such as in serum, plasma, or FFPE samples, enhancing basic research and the eventual development of clinical and therapeutic solutions. Diagenode’s CATS RNA-seq solution is much more efficient for RNA-seq library creation than protocols that use traditional reverse transcription methods. The ligation-independent method incorporates sequencing adaptors during cDNA synthesis,  allowing for optimal sequencing of degraded and low input RNA samples.

Using the new integrated workflow, researchers first use the Diagenode kits to easily generate ready-to-sequence RNA-seq libraries from picogram amounts of RNA in just a few hours with little hands-on time. Researchers can then process their data with the Genialis Expressions SaaS platform, which includes a fully automated CATS RNA-seq bioinformatics pipeline. The Genialis user interface is powered by Real Time Interactive Visualizations (RTIV), which provides the guided data exploration and interpretation workflows.

“The CATS RNA-seq analysis workflow we’ve developed with Genialis resolves the many of the typical data analysis challenges associated with running NGS when starting with low quality RNA,” said Jerome Kroonen, Strategic Marketing Manager at Diagenode. “Now, researchers can generate ready-to-sequence libraries in a single tube, process their raw data with a single click, and use Genialis’ visual interface to get a clearer picture of what’s happening at the gene expression level on samples where, previously, performing RNA-seq just wasn’t a practical consideration.”

“The new CATS-specific RNA-seq pipeline integrated into the Genialis Expressions platform addresses an important unmet need for researchers who often have to work with degraded samples or samples where the sheer amount of tissue is otherwise prohibitive for high quality sequencing,” said Rafael Rosengarten, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Genialis.
