Nucleophosmin B23B23/NPM1
Description
B23/nucleophosmin 1 (NPM1) is a crucial factor for both proliferation and growth-suppression pathways. Genetic alteration or overexpression of NPM1 are associated with diverse types of cancer. Consistently, NPM1 is known to interact with key cell cycle regulators such as p53 and ARF. Thus detailed biochemical analysis of NPM1 will help to develop novel diagnostic or therapeutic target toward a variety of cancer. NPM1 is routinely isolated from HeLa nuclear extracts through conventional chromatographic steps followed by ultracentrifugal separation on a glycerol gradient (20 to 40%). Purified NPM1 is in a multimer (~hexamer) conformation.
